  1. Thank you for the helpful information on your TeachYouToSew website.

When I was in college in the 1970s, I used a sewing machine for a while but I quickly gave up because I could’t get matching top-and-bottom thread tensions. Mysteriously, the thread on the top side of the seams kept pulling too tightly while the thread on the bottom side accumulated in a loose mess. LOL

Five decades later, at 75 years of age, and with a learning disability, I’m ready to buy a sewing machine!. I am in the market for a “for dummies” mechanical machine I could easily use for hemming store-bought skirts and pants.

I have narrowed down my options to the following five Singer models:
    Start 1304,
    Simple 3223,
    Simple 3232,
    Tradition 2277,
    Fashion Mate 3333.

Unfortunately, I haven’t found any side-by-side table comparing the relevant characteristics of these sewing machines.

I would very much appreciate your expert advice as to the model that is most likely to meet my needs.

Thanks a million, Joleen!

    1. I would go with the Singer 3223 as its a workhorse and not complicated. You can also choose between 3 colors….interested if anyone else agrees.
